The Coliseum uses Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition rules, with a few additions and specifications to improve the flow of the games. Encounters are created at random before the start of the fight based upon the number of players and the current level of play. Levels advance every gaming day, starting at Level 1 and ending with a special event week where the players at level 20 take epic boons.
