Devil’s sight gives a creature a tremendous tactical advantage. It makes magical darkness very useful. A creature with devil’s sight and the darkness spell can cloak itself in magical darkness. It gains advantage on attack rolls, and other creatures have disadvantage against it.
The advantage is even more pronounced in a region that is suffused by magical darkness. PCs can attempt to use magical light to see in the darkness, but that serves to make them a target.
